Blind Cricket Cup Final 2009

Edgbaston cricket ground will host the 2009 British Blind Sport Primary Club National Knockout Cup Final. It will be the first time the final has ever been played in the Midlands and it is thought to be the first domestic blind cricket match anywhere in the world to be played at a test cricket ground.

Unfortunately due to the World Twenty20 Cup being held in England the blind cricket cup final couldn’t fit onto the calendar at Lord's in 2009.

Warwickshire CCC were approached about the game being played at Edgbaston and thanks to the efforts of Warwickshire’s Chief Executive Colin Povey, Operations Manager Keith Cook and director of cricket Ashley Giles it has been agreed that the final will take place at Edgbaston on Saturday 22nd August with a 1.30PM start.

BBS cricket chairman Dave Gavrilovic told this website

“Obviously we were extremely disappointed to miss out on playing the game at Lord's this season. Edgbaston is a wonderful ground and to play on the main pitch of a test cricket ground will be a fantastic experience for the two teams playing in this year’s final. I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone at Warwickshire for their help in making this happen.”.
