| ENGLAND PLAY HOST TO THE INAUGURAL ASHES SERIES OF CRICKET FOR THE BLIND | ||

The England Blind Cricket Squad have just completed final preparations for their encounter with Australia in The Inaugual Ashes Series. England play host to the inaugural ECB/Sport England Ashes Series this month. The series will consist of 5 one day internationals, of 40 over's a side. International Blind Cricket is usually played using the limited over format. Both squads will be based at Bradfield College Berkshire and meet on Thursday 19th August. The Australian's visit to England kicks off with the Berkshire Trophy Centre 7 a side indoor cricket tournament on Friday 20th August at Bradfield College. On Saturday 21st of August both squads will attend the British Blind Sport and Primary Club knockout cup final at Lords Cricket Ground. The
Ashes Series starts with the first game at Bradfield College at 10:30am
on Sunday 22nd. Following the first game there will be a small ceremony,
where a stump from this first game will be burnt. (A stump will be used
as bails are not used in Blind Cricket.) The ashes will then be placed
in the Ashes Trophy and sealed. The ceremony will be performed by Peter
Donavan Chairman of The World Blind Cricket Council. The next 4 games
will be played at the following venues: The final game of the series will take place back at Bradfield College on Saturday 28th August. Following this game there will be a presentation evening where The Ashes Trophy, Medals and other awards will be presented by Mr Michael L'Estrange Australian High Commissioner and representatives of our major sponsors. All
games start at 10:30am and admission to all games is free. The Series
